Custom kitchen cabinets
Built on Our Floor in Wichita. Not Ordered From One.
Custom kitchen cabinetry measured to your actual walls, built in our own shop on East Kellogg, and installed by the crew that built it. Typically weeks sooner than supplier ordering.
Shop built
A catalog sells you the nearest size. A shop builds the right one.
Most kitchen cabinetry in this market is ordered from a supplier in standard increments and then made to fit with filler strips, scribe pieces, and a shrug about the corner that ended up dead space. It works, and it is why so many kitchens have a cabinet nobody can reach into and three inches of trim pretending to be a design choice.
We build in our own shop, so the cabinet is whatever dimension your wall actually is. Inset or overlay doors, drawers where you wanted drawers, a pantry that uses the full height to the ceiling, and interiors fitted to what you really keep in the kitchen. The same shop does vanities, built-ins, and commercial casework, so the capability is not a sideline.
If you are redoing the whole room rather than just the cabinetry, our kitchen remodeling page covers how the full project runs.

What we build
Cabinetry options.
Full custom cabinetry
Designed and built to your kitchen, not adapted to it. Any dimension, any species, any door profile, with the interior fittings built around what you actually store.
Cabinet refacing
New doors, drawer fronts, and finish over sound existing boxes. The right answer when the layout works and only the surfaces have dated.
Islands and peninsulas
Built to the clearances your room really has, with seating, storage, and power planned rather than assumed.
Pantries and storage walls
Floor to ceiling storage using the full height, including the awkward corners stock cabinetry gives up on.
Cabinet installation
Installed by the same crew that built the boxes, so a fit problem gets solved by the people who can actually fix it.
Why JAKS
What having our own shop changes.
Weeks sooner than ordering
Supplier cabinet orders commonly run many weeks. Ours are built here, which is why our kitchen schedules hold when others slip.
Built to your walls
No filler strips hiding the gap between a catalog size and your actual room. The cabinet is the dimension the wall is.
The shop is ten minutes away
If something needs adjusting during install, the people who built it are across town, not across the country.
We can match what you have
Adding to an existing kitchen or extending cabinetry into another room means matching profile, species, and finish. That is a shop capability, not a catalog one.
How it works
Measure to installed.
- 01
Measure and design
We measure your actual walls, which are never as square as a plan assumes, and design to what is there.
- 02
Material and finish selection
Species, door profile, and finish, including matching existing cabinetry elsewhere in the house when that is the goal.
- 03
Build in our shop
Your cabinets are built on our floor on East Kellogg, on our schedule, not queued behind a supplier’s national order book.
- 04
Finish
Stained or painted in shop, where dust control and cure conditions are controlled, rather than sprayed in your kitchen.
- 05
Install
Set level, scribed to the walls, hardware adjusted, and the punch list closed before we call it done.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do custom kitchen cabinets cost in Wichita?
It depends on the size of the kitchen, the species and finish, and how much of the interior is fitted out with drawers, pull-outs, and specialty storage. Custom is not automatically more expensive than mid-grade semi-custom from a supplier once you account for what fits and what gets wasted. We quote your actual kitchen in writing, for free.
How long does it take to build custom cabinets?
Typically weeks sooner than ordering through a supplier, because your cabinets are built on our floor rather than queued in a national order book. We give you a date with the estimate and we build to it.
Should I reface or replace my cabinets?
Reface when the boxes are solid and the layout works, and you want new doors, drawer fronts, and finish. Replace when the layout, the storage, or the box condition is the actual problem. We build both, so the recommendation is not steered by what we would rather sell.
Can you match my existing cabinets?
Usually. Matching door profile, wood species, and finish is one of the main reasons people go to a shop instead of a catalog, whether you are extending a kitchen, adding an island, or carrying cabinetry into an adjoining room. We will tell you honestly how close a match we can get before you commit.
Do you install, or just build?
Both, by the same crew. There is no handoff between a cabinet maker and an unrelated installer, which matters because most fit problems are solved fastest by whoever built the piece.
Do I have to be doing a full remodel to order cabinets?
No. We take standalone cabinetry projects whether or not JAKS is doing the surrounding work. If you are doing the whole room, our kitchen remodeling team handles it end to end; if you only want the cabinets, that is fine too.
